We know that raising kids can make life crazy.
Time flies and before you know it another holiday, like Father’s Day, has crept up, leaving you feeling a bit unprepared.
Don’t worry, you can throw this Father’s Day DIY project together in no time at all. All you need is a Target run, a glue gun, 30 minutes…and you will have a creative gift to give your favorite father figure.

Easily customize the flowers by using your favorite candy or by adding gift cards, photos and other memorable trinkets. Have some fun with it!
A Father’s Day DIY Project in 30 Minutes or Less:
Create your shopping list, but before you run to the store, check to see if you have any of these items around your house. We keep skewers in our kitchen for grilling and have a collection of glass vases from flowers that have been sent to us over the years. This was a perfect way to reuse those vases that take up cabinet space.
What you need:
- Mini candy bars
- Reese’s peanut butter cups (or a similarly shaped candy for the center of the flower)
- Additional candy to fill the vase with (helping to hide the styrofoam)
- Bamboo BBQ skewers
- Styrofoam dome
- Hot glue gun
- Ribbon
- Father’s Day card that you are willing to cut up (the Dollar Tree is a great place for these as they are cheap!)
- Any photos or gift cards you want to add
Assembly Instructions:
The project is simple! Just glue and arrange the pieces. Begin by trimming the styrofoam with a kitchen knife so that it fits into the bottom of your vase, leaving enough room around the edges so that candy can be tucked around the outside, hiding the ugly styrofoam. Arrange your candy filler around the styrofoam, leaving the top of the dome exposed.
Then glue the sealed edge of your chosen mini candy bar to the back side of Reese’s peanut butter cup. Glue enough candy bars to make a flower shape. Then glue the dull side of the skewer on the back of your flower.
Once all of your flowers are made, tie ribbons on the skewers and arrange them into the vase by poking the sharp side of the skewer into the styrofoam. Fill the vase with more candy hiding the styrofoam underneath.
Finally, add any finishing touches you would like by gluing photos, Father’s Day cards, gift cards, etc. onto your leftover skewers and adding them into the arrangement.
Impending holidays don’t have to add stress to your life. We all get busy, but having a DIY project in your back pocket gives you a little time to bond with your kids all while creating something unique for your loved ones.
