Two Simple On-The-Go Snack Ideas for Busy Moms

Being a mom is a beautiful thing, but it’s also chaotic and busy.  Oftentimes, we get to mid-afternoon and find ourselves in a slump, wondering why we can hear our stomach’s growling and are dying of thirst!

One of the greatest challenges of being a mother is finding the time to take care of yourself when you are consumed with taking care of others. Eating and staying hydrated are personal needs that tend to get put on the back burner when you are changing diapers or running your kids around like a taxi driver.

Having a few go-to snack ideas are crucial when you are a busy mom on the go!  The last place you want to find yourself is at a drive-thru window.  We are always searching for snacks that will fuel your body with the energy you need to keep up with your busy schedule as a mom!

Since we just wrapped up National Organic Month in September, we thought it would be a great time to team up with Simple Truth®​ and Honest Tea®.  Together we are bringing you 2 simple snack ideas that can easily be made from organic ingredients purchased at your local Kroger Brand grocery store.  The beauty is these can be made ahead of time and tossed right into your bag to be eaten throughout the week! That’s a major mom win in our book!

First up, enjoy this simple and easy apple fruit dip which makes snacking in our households much more interesting!

2 On-The-Go Snack Ideas for Busy Moms:

Apple Snacker Fruit Dip


Ingredients:

  • 1 organic apple (if you plan on making snack for an entire week, we’d suggest 4)
  • Simple Truth Organic Peanut Butter – 1 cup
  • Simple Truth Organic Sunflower Seeds – ½ cup
  • Organic milk – 2-4 Tbsp.
  • Simple Truth Organic Vanilla Greek Yogurt – 1.5 cup

Directions:

Combine the peanut butter and yogurt in a bowl.  Using a hand mixer, combine your ingredients until smooth.  Add milk, one tablespoon at a time, until your fruit dip is light and fluffy.

Cut your favorite organic apples into slices.  This is the perfect time of year to get delicious organic apples at Kroger, but this dip is delicious on any organic fruit!

Crush up your favorite Simple Truth snack items in a bowl to use as a topping for your dipped fruit.  We love the Simple Truth Sunflower Seeds, but if you aren’t into sunflower seeds, this snack also pairs well with dried cranberries, dried unsweetened coconut flakes or crushed cashews!  Really anything that can be crushed up or cut into small pieces adds a great extra punch to this recipe!

Now, dip and enjoy!  You can store your fruit dip in the fridge for a week or so.  It is easy to toss into plastic containers and enjoy on the go or eat it straight out of the fridge when you miraculously find a few minutes to sit down and relax.

Did we mention that this recipe is packed with protein? That is a huge bonus for busy moms needing extra energy in the afternoon. You really can’t go wrong having this fruit dip on hand during your busy weeks.

We always find it hard to stay hydrated, which is why we love to spoil ourselves with an Honest Tea in the afternoons.  A 16.9 oz bottle of Honest Tea, paired with one of our favorite snack recipes, are the perfect combination to keep you hydrated and nourished on the go! Mommy Gorp


Ingredients:

  • A variety of Simple Truth nuts (curried cashews, almonds, peanuts)
  • Simple Truth Yogurt Covered Raisins
  • Simple Truth Dried Cranberries
  • Simple Truth Organic Raisins
  • Simple Truth Organic Sunflower Seeds

Directions:

We decided to combine a bit of all of our Simple Truth brand snacks into one, delicious snack! Thank goodness for all of the amazing choices offered by Simple Truth because you can truly create a unique snack perfectly crafted to your liking.  

First, hit up the snack aisle (usually by the crackers) at your local Kroger brand grocery store to see the wide variety of snacks that Simple Truth offers.  Choose about five different items such as nuts and seeds, dried fruit and yogurt raisins.

Combine all of the ingredients in a large bowl, mix thoroughly and enjoy!  Finish off your Mommy Gorp with a refreshing Honest Tea.

We like to pre-package our mommy gorp into separate snack-sized baggies.  We toss them into our diaper bags or keep them on hand in the car so there is something to snack on while driving carpool.
